JAKE

All animals, like us, have individual needs and requirements. By matching these needs, we optimise the chance of a successful adoption placement. To make it easy for you to see if your home environment is compatible with the animal you have selected, we have bullet pointed Jake's specific needs below.

Jake is looking for a home with:
- Adults only, including no visiting children
- No other dogs or animals
- A decent-sized, secure private garden with fences of a least 6ft
- Experienced owners who are willing to carry out training and seek professional advice if needed and who are used to gsds
- A cosy bed that he can retreat to and curl up on when he wants his own space
- Located in a fairly quiet area (not too many dogs around)

Handsome Jake is on the lookout for a forever home after his owners had a change in circumstances and sadly could not care for him anymore. He is a very sweet boy but can be wary of new people and he does sometimes bark at new faces. Once he knows you, Jake loves a cuddle and a fuss, he will even nudge you for more strokes. He loves going for walks and gets very excited when you go to put on his leads. When it's nice and quiet around, Jake walks well. However, he can be strong on the lead when he reacts to dogs, other animals or strangers. He can be vocal and over-excited at times. He is looking to go to a home in a rural or semi-rural area where there are not a lot of dogs around. Jake is looking for a home with a good size garden where he can spend time off lead. He loves playing with a tennis ball! Ideally someone with experience of GSDs would be beneficial. Jake would benefit from training classes or professional advice to help his socialisation with other dogs. Jake is a clever lad and already knows how to sit and give his paw and he is working on down and stay/wait. He will be okay to be left alone for 3-4 hours per day, but no longer please. Jake loves his food and treats which does prove helpful when training! He is currently learning how to wear a muzzle happily and loves having a lick of cheese during practice.
The potential adopter will need to come to the centre a few times to meet and walk Jake, so please be aware of this before applying. If you feel you could offer Jake a home that meets his needs, please get in touch with the centre by sending in your perfect match form.
(We are asking everyone to please remember that a dog is for life, so if you are aware that your home or work life may change drastically in a few months, please consider the impact that could have on a dog). Jake is a real sweetheart, desperate to get out of kennels and into a loving home once more.

Please before starting the application process for an animal from Southridge, double check that the home you can offer meets Jake's needs. We would very much like to respond to every prospective adoption enquiry we receive, however at the moment this is just not possible for us to do. Therefore, unless your application matches the required criteria, we will not be able to email you back. Similarly if we receive your application after the animal you are interested in has been reserved.
Please continue to monitor the animals we have up for adoption because one that is a perfect match for you and your home will hopefully be available soon. Thank you very much for considering adopting one of our animals. We really appreciate your kindness and support.
