LASSIE

**PLEASE NOTE APPLICATIONS CAN ONLY BE ACCEPTED VIA https://chesterfield-rspca.org.uk/lassie-d2022043/ **

Her loveliness, however, is pure Shepherd. A particular form of anxiety-laden loveliness – or loving anxiousness – that Shepherds seem to inherit naturally. Either way, Lassie is an absolute star – one without equal. When she gets excited, she also has that uniquely Shepherd trait of making it seem as if her limbs have only just – this very second – been grafted onto her and that she is still figuring out how they are meant to work. They are splayed wide and then lifted tall, she rolls over, throwing them into the air, and then wraps them around you. Kissing your nose. Her giddiness becomes a wild dance with you, her partner. To spend time with her is nothing short of a joy, her cheerful smile remains etched deeply into your memory, flaring up when you might least expect it. She is a Shepherd alright. But her Shepherd-ness also extends to her anxieties, she spent much of her initial time with us hunched over, scuttling as far from us as she might get. The kind of fear that rattled her bones. She wanted to interact, you could see it in her eyes, but she couldn’t trust us – not quite yet. Given time, the space between us diminished, she would approach a little, she would flee less far each day, until she felt it was time to make friends. And make friends she certainly did – and does! She is a pleasure and a joy to be in the company of, a livewire with a heart of purest gold, she is funny – as Shepherds always are – that perfect combination of cleverness and daftness that Shepherds seem to pull off so well. Please, if you feel you might be able to offer Lassie a loving home – one where she might love and be loved in equal measure – then please get in touch. She needs a home, she needs a family. She’s very, very special.
